Fellowship of Integral Spirituality
Application for Lay Certifications
The Fellowship of Integral Spirituality (FOIS) is rooted in the belief that spirituality is deeply personal and expansive. FOIS welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds who seek to cultivate a life of wholeness through practices that nourish the body, mind, and spirit. By prioritizing spiritual formation over dogma, FOIS provides a space for practitioners to deepen their connection to the divine while respecting the uniqueness of each person's path. This open and inclusive approach allows for a rich diversity of spiritual expression, inviting all to participate in the transformative journey of integral life practice. Those who feel called to formalize their role within this fellowship may pursue licensure, endorsement, certification, or ordination, ensuring they are equipped to serve their communities with spiritual integrity and wisdom.
Integral Teachers possess specialized knowledge in one of the six integral practices of our Fellowship. They may be academic professors, service leaders, curriculum developers, or worship leaders such as kirtan wallas or cantors. Along with specialized knowledge, they have a fundamental understanding that integral life practices are spiritual formation practices.
Integral Spiritual Directors offer personalized spiritual guidance to individuals, helping them navigate their spiritual journeys in alignment with the six integral paths. They possess specialized knowledge and training to offer wisdom, insight, and compassionate support as a Spiritual Director.
Integral Counselors are tasked with providing emotional and spiritual support, addressing the intersections of mental health and spirituality within the framework of integral life practice. They work closely with individuals and groups to offer counseling that integrates psychological understanding with spiritual wisdom, promoting holistic well-being. Integral Counselors maintain ongoing education to stay current in both spiritual and psychological practices. In addition to demonstrating proficiency in integral life practices, we encourage spiritual counselors to seek licensure or certification in appropriate licensure or certification bodies.
Integral Community Practitioners engage in independent spiritual, healing, and well-being practices that serve the wider community. They are business owners or ministers who offer services that align with the principles of holistic well-being, spiritual growth, and personal transformation.
Integral Communities are communities of any faith such as sanghas, satsangs, or congregations who agree to practice at least one of the integral life practices as a community. Integral communities that adhere to our philosophy and code of ethics, may join our fellowship and have access to shared resources.
